Fancy Food Show 2009 and my quest to find the best NY Pizza

Picture 040  We had the opportunity to participate in the NASFT Fancy Food Show it was a wonderful experience and an honor. It was our first time ever attending and also my first time to NY city. Our first day at the show was very exciting, we were there to introduce our cookies into the market.  It was a great feeling seeing the response we got on our products.   At the show there were many different exhibitors from the U.S.,  as well as from different countries. It was very interesting to see all of the different products.

The first day in NY  I was a bit overwhelmed with the big crowds of  people and the cab drivers. Everything is so fast pace,  and they are not kidding when they say it’s the City that never sleeps. I got my first cab and that was an experience.  Don’t plan on site seeing while your riding in a cab because if you blink you’ll miss it.  Every night after the show,  I was on a quest to find the best pizza in NY.   Everyone in NY has there own opinion on who has the best pizza.   I must have asked at least a dozen people and it was between Johns Pizza and Lombardis. The first night I ended up going to Johns Pizza, everyone at the hotel told me it was the best.  It was rather good, but not what I was looking for.  I was looking for original NY pizza, the one with a thin crust were the cheese melts together with the sauce. Our second night we ventured out to Little Italy to eat at Lombardis, the pizza was good  but still not what I was looking for.  The third night in NY we went to Otto (Mario Batali pizza place), the pizza was amazing and the pasta was probably the best pasta I’ve ever had.  But as good as it was,  it still wasn’t the pizza that I was looking for.   During the show I met Wan and her son Michael, they were our neighbors at the show. Wan was exhibiting her Thai Satay Sauce and Michael was helping her. Michael lives in NY so he was the ideal person to ask about the pizza.  He told me that you can only get  the best pizza  in Brooklyn,  unfortunately I never go to make it. I decided to give everyone else a break from eating pizza but the next time I’m in NY I will be back on my quest to find the best pizza out there.
